A Different Spring -- A Different World
Spring is officially here in SE Pennsylvania, but it’s a spring different than any of us have ever experienced. Instead of visiting all the local gardens and parks that are bursting with color, we are asked to stay inside and practice social distancing. Even some of the walking trails and paths are now closed to visitors.
So, what does a garden and floral photographer do in times like this? We stay inside and do our part to flatten the curve to help limit the spread of this horrible virus. We might take photos in our own backyard; we might look back at photos from previous years and post our memories on social media; we might experiment with some different post processing techniques; we might enroll in some virtual classes to expand our knowledge and skills; we might forget about flowers this year and find things to photograph in the home. Personally, I’ve done all of these things over the past week, and it looks like I may be doing the same for awhile longer.
I was fortunate to be able to get to both Longwood Gardens and Winterthur to capture some early spring blooms before they closed. Here are some of my favorites from those days, as well as some blooms that have already popped up in my yard. Enjoy and stay safe!
