Spring in Pennsylvania
Spring in Pennsylvania is my favorite time of the year! I consider myself to be very fortunate to live in “America’s Garden Capital” with over 30 gardens within a two-hour drive. While I’ve been to many of these gardens, I tend to focus on the ones in the Brandywine Valley area as they are basically in my backyard!
Our spring actually begins in late February when the tiny geophytes start emerging from the ground. The white snowdrops and yellow Adonis are usually the first to make an appearance, followed by yellow winter aconite and crocus in varying shades of lavender. The blues are typically the last to pop up bringing blue squills and glory of the snow, which when combined with tiny yellow daffodils create a color palate that screams Spring!
This is only the beginning of the gradual transition to the season of re-birth and rejuvenation! Once the flowering trees, shrubs, and bulbs start showing off and competing with each other, it’s really amazing! Forsythia, cherry and apple blossoms, lilacs, dogwoods, azaleas, tulips and so many more bring beauty and fragrance, not to mention loads of photographic opportunities!
Whether you’re a photographer or not, spring is the perfect time to enjoy the beauty that surrounds us and appreciate our natural world as it welcomes the Season of Re-birth!
Thanks for taking the time to read my thoughts and view some of my favorite spring images from this year. Your comments are always welcome and appreciated. Have a great day!
