A Year in Review
As another year comes to a close and we prepare to head into 2024, I thought this would be a good time to reflect on my photography journey of the past twelve months. There were times I felt like I was in a rut and my photos weren’t as good as I thought they should be, and then there were times I’d look at a photo and think, “Wow, I really nailed that one!”
As I was reviewing my images and deciding which ones to share, I realized how much I’ve grown and stepped out of my comfort zone. From new techniques in camera, including multiple exposures and intentional camera movement, long exposure photography, and more, to post-processing methods where you can change backgrounds, colors, apply textures and overlays that completely change the mood of the image, I’ve experimented like never before! And we can’t forget AI, but that’s it a whole different category!
Was it frustrating? Yes, but that’s what made seeing the end result so rewarding. You can teach an old dog new tricks!! With photography changing at such a rapid pace, we need to keep pushing forward and always striving to be the best we can be. As a former HR professional and corporate trainer, two of the basic principles we always promoted were “ lifelong learning” and “walking the talk,” both of which I will certainly be incorporating into my photo journey in the coming year.
Here are some of my favorites from 2023. Some I selected because I was excited to master a new technique, and some just because it evokes some emotion for me and I want to share it with my viewers. Thank you all for your continued support and hope you enjoy looking through these images. Happy New Year and hope you all have a picture-perfect 2024!
