Lady Sings the Blues

I have memories of riding in the car with my dad as a young girl and him singing along with the radio. He couldn't carry a tune to save his life, but he enjoyed it so much. The songs I remember the most are the soft and sultry ones by the early Queens of Jazz like Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, and Lena Horne.  I guess it was no surprise that I grew up to enjoy and appreciate jazz; while friends my age were listening to heavy metal, I was listening to Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone, and Etta James. Thanks for that influence, Dad!

My love for jazz carries over to my love for blue flowers. If you think about it, they are similar; one is pleasing to the ear, the other is pleasing to the eye.  There is something about blue flowers that is so soothing and calming, and I wanted to share some of my favorites with you. Rather than put them all in this blog post, they are scattered throughout the site, most in the "Macro Photography" and the "Gardens and Nature" sections.  Browse around and enjoy the blues - maybe even play some jazz while you're browsing.
